Summer 2026 Community Events: Detroit Kids, This One’s For You!
As summer 2026 kicks off, Central Detroit Christian is opening its doors to Detroit-area youth with two dynamic programs designed to keep kids active, engaged, and growing both in faith and in fun.
Battle Ready: The Armor of God Summer Day Camp
For students entering grades 1 through 8, Central Detroit Christian is hosting its “Battle Ready: The Armor of God” Summer Day Camp from June 22 through July 31, 2026. The camp runs Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, giving working families a reliable and enriching place for their children to spend the summer.
The program is built around a well-rounded daily experience that blends faith and fun. Campers will participate in literacy activities, Bible study, crafts, games, and sports throughout the week. And if that’s not enough, every Friday is a Field Trip Friday, giving kids the chance to explore Detroit and beyond.
One of the biggest highlights? Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks are all provided, so parents can drop their kids off knowing they’ll be well-fed and well-cared-for throughout the day.
The camp is held at 1550 Taylor St., Detroit, MI 48206. Registration is open now! Simply scan the QR code on the camp flyer to get started or reach out directly by email at klake@centraldetroitchristian.org or by phone at 313-873-0064 ext. 14. Spots are limited, so families are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
Flag Football Season — Still Time to Join!
Already underway, the Central Detroit Christian Flag Football Season is running every Saturday from May 30 through June 20, 2026, from 10:00am to 12:45pm. Open to boys and girls in grades 4 through 8, the league is a great opportunity for young athletes to sharpen their skills, build teamwork, and have a blast on the field.
Games are held at Hutchins Park, located at 1501 Hazelwood, Detroit, MI 48206. Snacks are provided for all participants. With just a few Saturdays left in the season, now is the perfect time to get involved. For more information, call Coach Shawn at 313-205-8041.
